Brooklyn based Artist,DJ, producer, and multi instrumentalist fa dat ass and soul
Toribio’s got something for your soul—and your ass. With a lifelong musical background in percussion, education and practice in jazz, and a devotion to the sounds of his Dominican roots, Toribio came to house music through its funky side, through the music of luminaries like Theo Parrish and Masters at Work. Therefore, Toribio’s brand of house is highly musical, soulful and, ultimately, makes you want to come together and move. The charming DJ, producer, and multi-instrumental music maker brings people from Brooklyn to Manhattan together for his BDA parties where the motto is "Bring Dat Ass, and your feet will follow.” A force of nightlife, Toribio has played some truly legendary parties outside his own, such as 718 Sessions, Soul in the Horn, and Shaker Mountain and he’s shared lineups with the likes of Todd Terry, Eli Escobar, DJ Seinfeld, Rich Medina, and Byron the Aquarius. Toribio’s spirit shines bright behind the decks, but he also displays his musical prowess as leader of his rotating collective of musicians, Conclave, whose brilliant self-titled LP released last summer on Love Injection Records to critical acclaim. Conclave is a reminder of the powerful omnipresence of Afro and Latino sounds and instruments; a captivating hour of lively jazz, spirited house, and moving, sometimes heart-thumping, soul layers effortlessly with Toribio’s easy, sweeping tenor, and courses to an electrically charged conclusion. Tracks from Conclave have been remixed by renown producers such as Louie Vega, Photay, and Seven Davis Jr. There are many ways to get to know Toribio: Feel the warmth that pervades his multigenre mixes on his monthly show the Lot Radio. Feel the heart in Conclave’s compositions and live performances. And feel the rhythm of everything he produces, standouts like Esa Montaña Se Movera (Most Excellent Unlimited), Swett (Darker Than Wax), an ultrafunky edit of Q-Tip’s ManWomanBoogie (Gator Boots), and a recent Conclave remix of Soul Clap’s You Can Shine Too, out now on Fool's Gold Records.
